How to prepare for a technical interview in 7 days

How to prepare for a technical interview in 7 days

A week is enough to pass a technical interview with confidence if you train with a system. Here is a plan that works for QA engineers and junior developers.

Days 1–2: inventory

Write down every question you might be asked: the basics of your specialty, the tools in your resume, behavioural questions. Next to each one, jot down the points of your answer. Mark your weak spots in red: they will get more of your time.

Days 3–4: theory in interview mode

Don’t just read. Answer out loud. Play a recording of a real interview with the AI copilot on: question sounds, you answer, you check the hint, you compare. The brain remembers the structure of an answer, not its exact text.

Day 5: stress test

Ask a friend to throw in unexpected follow-ups: “but why not do it that way?”, “what if…?”. Learn to think out loud instead of going silent.

Day 6: behavioural questions with STAR

Prepare five STAR stories (situation, task, action, result). They cover about 90% of behavioural questions. Each story should take 60–90 seconds.

Day 7: dress rehearsal

A full mock interview in real time, under the same conditions as the real one. Afterwards, review the recording.

By the end of day seven, the main skill is not knowing every answer but thinking out loud calmly. That is what interviewers actually test. A tool for rehearsals →
