Mock interview with AI: a new way to prepare for interviews

Mock interview with AI: a new way to prepare for interviews

A mock interview is the fastest way to turn knowledge into confidence. It used to need a partner; now the interviewer can be an AI.

How to build a training session

Step 1. Choose a format. Play a recording of a real interview (YouTube has hundreds of them). The AI copilot listens to the questions and suggests the structure of an answer. This is the closest thing to the real thing.

Step 2. Answer out loud. A readable hint is only a skeleton. Say the whole answer, as you would in a real interview: speaking it aloud is what trains the wording.

Step 3. Review your recordings. Record your screen and watch it back: filler words, pace, eye contact. One recording teaches more than ten articles you read.

How long to train

The best rhythm is 3–4 mock sessions a week, 30 minutes each, for 2–3 weeks before you start applying. By the tenth session, answers to typical questions sound confident, and your mind stops freezing on unexpected follow-up questions.

What to avoid

  • Memorised scripts: the interviewer hears recitation at once. Use a skeleton and natural speech.
  • Training in your head: silent answers are easy, spoken ones are hard. Train out loud.
  • Only easy questions: spend 30% of your time on the topics where you are weaker.
